We are looking for a dedicated volunteer to join our ambitious media team as a Pitchside Camera Operator.
This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their skills and gain hands on experience while contributing to Stranraer FC.
As a pitchside camera operator, you will work independently to shoot spectacular footage along the touchline and behind the scenes, capturing all the action from a brand new angle.
Why join us?
The club’s media presence has developed rapidly in the past year, with a growing audience watching weekly highlights, post-match interviews, pre-match vlogs, special features and bonus Patreon content.
Our coverage is highlighted by the likes of BBC, ITV, A View from the Terrace, print media, and other national sports outlets and podcasts.
In the last year:
- YouTube reach has doubled, with content recommended to 2.4 million people
- our subscriber count has grown by 27%
Viewership is comparable with teams in higher divisions, with total views more than double the previous year, and watch time up by 179%.
As a media team, we are ambitious for our football club and aim to produce the best possible coverage for home, away and neutral supporters.
What’s involved
We produce an extended highlights package for all home and away fixtures where possible, subject to team availability. This is edited on the evening of each matchday, and published as soon as possible – usually the day after each game.
Our aim is to tell the story of each match in vivid detail, highlighting the characters and moments that make Scottish football special.
Coverage features commentary from Laurence Nelson and Brian Martin, with high quality match footage shot in 4K 50fps and multiple camera angles around the ground.
We are now looking to expand on our offering with a second cameraperson, capturing immersive action, different perspectives and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.
This would include:
- filming players arriving off the team bus, warming up, lining up, and coming out of the tunnel
- a closer view of substitutions, player reactions, celebrations and full-time scenes
- an additional replay angle for key moments in the match
- assisting the production team with equipment setup, retrieval and teardown
What you’ll need
The ideal candidate would bring:
- access to camera equipment capable of producing high quality footage in 4K 50fps (please discuss if you’re unsure)
- a passion for videography and football
- an ability to capture the key moments
- reliability and a willingness to work alongside our media team
What you’ll get
As our new pitchside camera operator, you would gain:
- free entry to any and all Stranraer FC games you attend
- behind the scenes media access to Stair Park on matchdays
- the opportunity to develop your skills and experience
- the chance to work alongside our production team
We’d love for you to attend as many matches as possible, but we don’t expect full attendance home and away. If you’re passionate, committed, and eager to be part of an exciting media team, we’d love to have you on board, and will support you as best we can.
