We are looking for a dedicated volunteer to join our matchday team in the role of Matchday Announcer.
This role is ideal for someone with a confident voice, a passion for football and the ability to help create a welcoming and professional matchday experience for supporters, players, officials and visitors.
As our Matchday Announcer, you will be the voice of Stranraer FC on home matchdays, delivering key information over the stadium PA system before, during and after the match.
Why join us?
Match days at Stranraer FC rely on the hard work and commitment of volunteers across the club. Every role plays an important part in making the day run smoothly and helping supporters enjoy their visit.
We are now looking to strengthen that team with a reliable and enthusiastic announcer who can communicate clearly, keep supporters informed and help build the atmosphere around the ground.
What’s involved
The Matchday Announcer will be responsible for delivering clear and timely announcements throughout home fixtures.
This would include:
- welcoming supporters, visiting fans, players, officials and sponsors
- reading out team lines before kickoff
- announcing goals, substitutions, added time and other key match information
- sharing safety messages and club notices when required
- ensuring matchday music playlist is played pre-match and continues at half time
- promoting sponsors, hospitality guests, mascots, community activity and upcoming fixtures
- working with club officials, media volunteers and matchday staff to make sure information is accurate and delivered at the right time
The role will be required at home fixtures, with attendance before kickoff to receive team lines, and prepare notes and announcements.
What you’ll need
The ideal candidate would have:
- a clear, confident speaking voice
- good communication skills
- reliability and good timekeeping
- the ability to stay calm and focused in a live matchday environment
- a passion for football and an understanding of the matchday experience
- a professional and welcoming manner
- the confidence to speak in front of a crowd
Previous announcing or public speaking experience would be helpful, but it is certainly not essential. Support and guidance will be provided and you will be welcomed as part of our matchday team.
What you’ll get
As our Matchday Announcer, you will gain:
- free entry to home matches where you are on duty
- the chance to play a key role in the matchday experience
- experience in live presenting and public speaking
- the opportunity to work alongside other club volunteers and staff
We would love the successful candidate to cover as many home fixtures as possible, but we understand that full availability may not always be possible.
