A promotion push is very much in the sights of new signing Edin Lynch.
The defender is Chris Aitken’s latest recruit as Stranraer aim for a top four finish.
Lynch, who spent the first half of the campaign with Edinburgh City, was named on the bench at New Douglas Park on Saturday against Clyde.
Tuesday night presents the opportunity of a debut in blue as Clyde travel to the LIME Stadium at Stair Park.
Lynch said: “The prospect of promotion was exciting for me.
“To be honest, that is partly one of the draws of Stranraer.
“The guys have done so well to get themselves into a position where there is an opportunity to push for promotion.
“The gaffer has alluded to it a couple of times, but there have been plenty of people writing us off.
“For me, I would love to provide a positive contribution to the club and if that resulted in getting promoted then it would be a fantastic effort.”

The weekend’s 2-1 defeat, along with results elsewhere, saw Stranraer drop out of the play-off places.
However, the midweek clash offers a chance for an immediate return to the top four as the season enters the final few weeks.
It looks like being a thrilling close to the campaign, with fourth-placed Forfar Athletic on 36 points and ninth-placed Dumbarton just six points further back.
Lynch, whose first senior goal came for Dumbarton against Stranraer, said: “It is a really strong League Two this year.
“I think there are a lot of teams of a similar level.
“There is not a big gap and therefore there will be a lot of teams looking at the possibility of taking that fourth spot come the end of the season.
“However, having been involved in League Two for quite a long time and having played against Stranraer multiple times this season and last season, I certainly think that we have got the quality within the squad and ability to put ourselves in contention for it.”
Last meeting
A goalless first half on Saturday was followed by three goals after the break.
Clyde opened the scoring when Barry Cuddihy nodded home and they quickly doubled their advantage. A fine team move was finished off by Robbie Leitch just four minutes after Clyde had opened the scoring.
However, Stranraer set up a nervy finish when Ronan Hughes headed beyond Jay Hogarth with five minutes left.
Joe McGrath and Deryn Lang both came close in the remaining few minutes but the visitors could not secure a point.
Clyde: Hogarth, Robson, Dunachie, Howie, Hynes, Cuddihy (Fleming 75), Murdoch, Redfern (Williamson 81), Leitch (R Lyon 86), McGinlay (Cannon 75), Connell (Niang 75).

Five facts

- Recent signing Edin Lynch made his senior debut for Kilmarnock B away to Kelty Hearts in the League Challenge Cup. The Rugby Park side that day featured no fewer than seven players with connections to Stranraer. They were: Curtis Lyle, Craig Ross, Tom Brindley, Olly McDonald, Innes Cameron, Jamie Walker and Josh Walker.
- The last time Stranraer and Clyde faced off in a midweek league contest at Stair Park was in March 2011. On that day, an Armand One goal had the home side a goal up at the break. John Stewart levelled for Clyde but goals from Craig Malcolm and another for One meant the three points stayed in Wigtownshire. The home team that night was: Marshall, Kurakins, Sharp, D Gallagher, G Gallagher, Agnew, Danny Mitchell (Cochrane 46), Nicoll, McColm (Winter 47), One (Moore 83), Malcolm. Not used: Glen Mitchell and David Mitchell.
- Tuesday is also the birthday of a few former Stranraer players. Dean Agnew, who made 17 appearances, turns 32. Martin Glancy, who made six appearances, turns 50. Finally, Michael Moore, who made 298 appearances, turns 45.
- If selected on Tuesday night, Finn Ecrepont will make his 100th appearance in a Stranraer shirt. His debut came in a 1-0 defeat away to Stirling Albion in January 2023. Since then, he has played under four different managers – Jamie Hamill, Scott Agnew, Scott Robertson and Chris Aitken.
- Stranraer were 2-0 down after just 13 minutes the last time they played on March 24. Goals from Omar Kader and Gavin Swankie had Arbroath 2-0 up in Angus but the game would change in the final 22 minutes. Stephen Okoh scored before Grant Anderson levelled the scores. Then, with four minutes left, Scott Agnew’s penalty gave Stranraer all three points.
