It has been a season of numbers for Stranraer Football Club.
Over the last 10 months, 51 matches, three penalty shootouts and two periods of extra time have been played across four different competitions.
During that time, 31 players have been involved in matchday squads, with 28 of those players taking to the pitch.
Goalkeepers
Josh Lane

- Appearances: 32
- Goals: –
- Assists: 2
- Minutes: 2,910
Popular goalkeeper returned for a second loan spell from Hamilton Academical. Lane was impressive last season and continued from where he left off. Pulled off a number of stunning saves, including keeping out a Nicky Low free-kick from the halfway line against Clydebank in the Scottish Cup. Also got two assists over the course of the season. Firstly, a long ball up the park was finished off by Jordan Stuart against Rangers B. Then, in horrible weather at East Kilbride, his goal kick was collected by Daniel McManus, who scored from out wide. Spell at The LIME Stadium at Stair Park was halted when he was recalled to the League One side. Now faces a vital few weeks as he attempts to help Hamilton remain in the third tier of Scottish football after they finished in the relegation play-offs.
Ewan Henderson

- Appearances: 2
- Goals: –
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 180
Summer signing from Whitletts Victoria spent the first 14 matches of the season on the bench as Josh Lane played. Henderson was given a chance in the KDM Evolution Trophy when Motherwell B visited The LIME Stadium at Stair Park. Kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 victory and was given a further 90 minutes – keeping another clean sheet – against St Mirren B about two months later. Got valuable game time out on loan at Rutherglen Glencairn before being recalled to provide competition following Max Currie’s injury.
Lyndon Tas

- Appearances: 7
- Goals: –
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 660
Secured hero status on his Stranraer debut as the Blues defeated Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup. Penalty shootout save gave his new team victory on the night. Tas came back into the side when Max Currie was injured against Clyde. Turned in a string of impressive performances. Final appearance came in the last home game of the season against Stirling Albion. Went up for a corner in the closing minutes but was then required to save a penalty at the other end.
Max Currie

- Appearances: 10
- Goals: –
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 900
Finally returned to the club having been linked with a move back to The LIME Stadium for several years. Second ‘debut’ for Currie came at former club East Kilbride, where he kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win. Was unbeaten in his first four games back in the Stranraer squad as the Blues drew with Stirling Albion and Annan Athletic before defeating Spartans. Saved a Russell Dingwall penalty in 2-1 defeat to Elgin City. Managed to finish away game at Clyde but was then missing for several games through injury. Started at Borough Briggs on the last day of the season to take his appearance total to 102 in a Stranraer shirt – including two substitute appearances.
Craig Burns

- Appearances: –
- Goals: –
- Assists: –
- Minutes: –
Goalkeeper answered a call to sit on the bench for the second game in back-to-back fixtures with Clyde. Max Currie was injured following the first game and Lyndon Tas came into the team. That meant a space on the bench and saw Burns brought into the squad. Was not needed on the night but provided assurance to the management team that they had another goalkeeper if one was required.
Defenders
Ally Hilferty

- Appearances: –
- Goals: –
- Assists: –
- Minutes: –
Twenty-one minutes for the Stranraer first team last term and Hilferty was again involved this season. The defender was named on the bench when Queen of the South visited the western end of Dumfries and Galloway in July. Was one of four unused substitutes on the day as Aaron Quigg’s goal proved the difference.
Finn Ecrepont

- Appearances: 27 (10)
- Goals: 3
- Assists: 3
- Minutes: 2,638
Long-serving defender made 37 appearances over the course of the season. Ecrepont started the campaign in fine fashion when he played the ball in for Aaron Quigg to score against Queen of the South in the second game. Scored a brace at Edinburgh City as Stranraer picked up a vital three points. Slotted home from Ryan Edgar’s pass and then curled home an unstoppable free-kick. Doubled his assist tally with a free-kick into the box, which was headed home by Scot Rough. Added to his goal tally with a lovely strike away to Forfar Athletic. Made his 100th appearance in a Stranraer shirt in a 3-1 midweek victory over Clyde.
Edin Lynch

- Appearances: 1 (2)
- Goals: –
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 107
Spent the first half of the season with Michael McIndoe’s Edinburgh City. Lynch made 31 appearances for the Meadowbank club before leaving in January. Made the switch to Stranraer in March. The defender made his debut in blue when he came off the bench in a midweek win over Clyde. Added a further nine minutes when he came on away to Annan Athletic at the end of March. Played the full 90 minutes on the last day of the campaign as Stranraer enjoyed three points away to Elgin City.
Joe McGrath

- Appearances: 15
- Goals: 1
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 1,350
One of five loan signings who made a favourable impression at the LIME Stadium at Stair Park. McGrath was named on the bench when Hibernian visited Falkirk in January. Made the move to Stranraer in time to replace Scot Rough at the heart of the defence as his new club visited Forthbank. Was unlucky with an own goal at home to Spartans but then found the net at the right end against other opponents from the capital in Edinburgh City. Man of the match performance at Ainslie Park helped the Blues to a 2-1 win. Never missed a minute in an impressive loan spell.
Scot Rough

- Appearances: 35 (1)
- Goals: 3
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 3,239
Summer signing’s stay at the LIME Stadium was, ultimately, brief. Defender joined from West of Scotland Football League Premier Division side Beith. Rough immediately struck up an impressive defensive partnership with Lewis Reid. His first goal came in the KDM Evolution Trophy against Rangers B when he diverted home Corey O’Donnell’s volley. Headed home a first league goal when he got on the end of Finn Ecrepont’s free-kick against Stirling Albion and then netted a late, late winner away to Elgin City. Final appearance came in a victory at East Kilbride before the chance of full-time football with Crusaders proved too good to turn down at the end of January.
Beejay Coll

- Appearances: 24 (11)
- Goals: –
- Assists: 1
- Minutes: 2,208
Experienced defender was one of a number of new recruits heading for the LIME Stadium during the close season. Coll made his debut on the opening day as his new side enjoyed a penalty shootout triumph over Ross County. Shared the left full-back spot with Finn Ecrepont for much of the campaign. Only assist proved a vital one as his free-kick was fired into the net by Scot Rough in stoppage time away to Elgin City. One of a number of players putting pen to paper as Chris Aitken looks to build on the fifth place finish.
Sean Docherty

- Appearances: 14 (12)
- Goals: –
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 1,173
Full-back started the season playing alongside Evan Dunne and got 75 minutes against Ross County on the opening day. Defender Docherty made 26 appearances, with almost half coming from the bench. Two first half yellow cards against Spartans saw his afternoon cut short at the LIME Stadium in September. Injury forced him off at home to Annan the following month. Next start in the league did not come until early in 2026 when Stranraer drew with Edinburgh City. Signed off his Stranraer career with just over an hour at Borough Briggs on the last day of the campaign.
Evan Dunne

- Appearances: 31 (5)
- Goals: 3
- Assists: 3
- Minutes: 2,729
Summer signing from Beith made an immediate impression. Dunne’s cross was tapped home by Tommy Sharp on the opening day of the campaign against Ross County. Got himself on the scoresheet in the memorable 4-0 win away to Spartans in November. Added his second assist when he found Dean Cleland to score at K Park. Put Stranraer in front against Clyde under the floodlights and then played the ball through for Deryn Lang to add number three late on. Grabbed a vital equaliser against struggling Dumbarton towards the end of the campaign. Height proved a valuable asset in both boxes and has signed on for another year.
Lewis Reid

- Appearances: 49 (1)
- Goals: 1
- Assists: 1
- Minutes: 4,073
Near ever-present over a hectic season as he developed both as a player and when with the captain’s armband. Reid had joined on loan from Queen’s Park last season and made the switch a permanent one last summer. Soon became a firm fixture in the heart of the defence alongside Scot Rough. Formed a new partnership when Rough moved on and Joe McGrath came into the team. Finally, got his first goal for the club when he fired home the winner against East Kilbride. Ten days later, his header against Clyde took a slight touch off Nathan Cannon and ended up in the net. Added an assist to his impressive resume when his long ball up field was finished off by Aaron Quigg against Spartans. Picked up a number of well-deserved end of season rewards and was rewarded with full time football at Ross County.
Midfielders
Mark Russell

- Appearances: 24 (9)
- Goals: 8
- Assists: 4
- Minutes: 2126
Popular midfielder was a regular among the goals for Stranraer once again. Had proven an influential figure last term and scored the club’s first league goal of the campaign in a 2-1 defeat to Edinburgh City. Russell proved his worth from the spot with further goals against Elgin City, East Kilbride (twice), Spartans and Annan Athletic. Also tucked home a rebound against Dumbarton after spot kick was saved. Struggled to get into a packed midfield and then made move to Stirling Albion at the end of January.
Aaron Quigg

- Appearances: 32 (16)
- Goals: 4
- Assists: 5
- Minutes: 3122
Found a habit of scoring important goals as every time he found the net Stranraer did win. Started off with a goal against Queen of the South before Quigg scored in a 4-0 win at Spartans. Netted in a 2-1 win over Spartans before then doing it again in a contest in the capital which finished with the same result. Also came up with five assists along the way as he became an increasingly key part of Chris Aitken’s team. Featured in 48 of the club’s 51 games – an unused substitute against Motherwell B and Stirling Albion in January before missing the final game at Elgin.
Kirk McKnight

- Appearances: 19 (10)
- Goals: –
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 1748
Versatility proved key for McKnight, who took his appearance total for Stranraer to more than 50. Nineteen starts were split between right back and midfield as he slotted in when required. Had to be patient for opportunities at times but made the most of it. Did not add to his goal against Stirling Albion last season but was a key part of the squad that pushed for the play-off places. Played 61 minutes at Borough Briggs on the last day of the season in what proved to be his final appearance for the club.
James Dolan

- Appearances: 35 (13)
- Goals: 5
- Assists: 5
- Minutes: 3084
Back from a year in Spain and continued from where he left off. Missed just three games – Edinburgh City, Queen of the South and Clyde – over a busy season and was a regular both in the goalscoring and goals assist columns. Dolan scored against Stenhousemuir in his final league appearance in May 2024 and was back among the goals within five games of returning to the club. Scored a vital last minute winner against Dumbarton, which, ultimately, helped turn Stranraer’s season around. Played either as a winger or a striker and doubled his goal tally (five in each season) and yellow card count (one in each season) from his first spell with the club.
Jordan Stuart

- Appearances: 21 (14)
- Goals: 1
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 1801
Signed from Beith alongside Scot Rough, Stuart added some steel to the Stranraer midfield. SPFL debut came against a Ross County side who had just been relegated from the top flight. Became an important part of Chris Aitken’s midfield and scored a memorable goal against Rangers B. Season was interrupted by an injury after just nine minutes against Queen’s Park. Return against Edinburgh City only lasted 14 minutes when he was shown a straight red card on an afternoon to forget for the Blues. Came off the bench in the final home game of the season but saw his campaign ended prematurely as he brought down JJ McIntyre as Stranraer pushed to keep their promotion hopes alive.
Lewis Hunter

- Appearances: 18 (24)
- Goals: 2
- Assists: 1
- Minutes: 1702
Former Spartans man was heavily involved throughout the season as Stranraer navigated more than 50 games. Debut got off to a memorable start as he rolled home the decisive penalty against Ross County on the opening day. Hunter had to wait until October to find the net again. Had only been on the park a matter of seconds before he scored against Glenafton and then found the net against East Kilbride in a memorable midweek win. Matched his opening day penalty shootout heroics by scoring the decisive spot kick after Lyndon Tas had denied former Blue Carlo Pignatiello in the Queen’s Park Scottish Cup clash. Played more than an hour on the final day of the season but his future lies away from the LIME Stadium.
Daniel McManus

- Appearances: 33 (13)
- Goals: 3
- Assists: 4
- Minutes: 2926
One of a few to come into the club with East Kilbride and St Cadocs connections. McManus had a few injuries early in the campaign but increasingly became an important part of the Stranraer squad. Opened his goalscoring account with a delightful chip against Motherwell B. Went on to find the net at Meadowbank Stadium and then scored against former club East Kilbride. Would go on to tee up Lewis Hunter in that game and then provided the pass for Dominic Plank’s opener at Elgin City. Featured in 46 games and will be hoping to be an influential figure once again.
Ronan Hughes

- Appearances: 9 (20)
- Goals: 2
- Assists: 1
- Minutes: 861
Early season injury disrupted his return to the SPFL. Hughes had featured four times by mid-August but had to then wait until November to pull on a Stranraer shirt again. Faced a battle to get into a Stranraer midfield packed with options but increasingly showed glimpses of what he was capable of. Scored against Ayr United and Clyde in losing efforts and showed he could be an option in midfield or up front. Played a big role in Robbie Foster’s final goal of the season and will be hoping for an uninterrupted campaign in 2026/27.
Tommy Sharp

- Appearances: 4 (11)
- Goals: 2
- Assists: 1
- Minutes: 499
Son of former Stranraer legend Lee Sharp made summer switch from Livingston. Sharp made an immediate when he scored on his debut against Ross County a matter of seconds after coming off of the bench. Doubled his tally when he opened the scoring when Rangers B visited the LIME Stadium at Stair Park. Majority of his 15 appearances came from the bench and in cup competitions. Final appearance for the Blues came in a 4-1 midweek win away to East Kilbride. Joined Beith on loan for the remainder of the season.
Matthew Gillies

- Appearances: 25 (4)
- Goals: 1
- Assists: 1
- Minutes: 2080
Brought to the LIME Stadium at Stair Park alongside fellow Hearts loanee Dominic Plank. Gillies started his first game in a 1-1 draw with Elgin City in September. Featured at right back but increasingly became a reliable presence in the centre of midfield. Clocked up the minutes and played a key role in Stranraer’s victory over Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup. Single goal in a blue shirt proved a vital one as he immediately cancelled out an East Kilbride opener. Goes back to the capital with the benefit of playing almost 30 games.
Dominic Plank

- Appearances: 19 (9)
- Goals: 2
- Assists: 7
- Minutes: 1756
Five minutes against Elgin City was followed by two minutes at Dumbarton, which proved long enough to play a role in James Dolan’s winner. Plank did not make his first start until Spartans away – after eight sub appearances. Became a virtual ever present after that and scored memorable goal against Queen’s Park in the Scottish Cup before finding the net at Borough Briggs. Regularly had fans on the edge of their seats with fine solo play and will be looking to make a similar impact after a permanent move down the A77.
Jake Ellis

- Appearances: –
- Goals: –
- Assists: –
- Minutes: –
Made his debut last season at home to Bonnyrigg Rose as Stranraer went down 1-0. Ellis was then named on the bench when Queen of the South journeyed along the A75 at the end of July. Ended up being an unused substitute alongside Ally Hilferty, Sean Docherty and Ewan Henderson as the Blues enjoyed a first victory over their regional rivals since January 2006.
Forwards
Robbie Foster

- Appearances: 0 (2)
- Goals: 1
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 42
A pre-season injury majorly disrupted Foster’s second season with Stranraer. The striker was a regular sight throughout the season at The LIME Stadium at Stair Park and gradually returned to fitness. Came off the bench for the final 13 minutes in the last home game of the season against Stirling Albion. Then, got the last half an hour of the campaign away to Elgin City, where he scored the only goal of the game with two minutes left.
Dean Cleland

- Appearances: 9 (5)
- Goals: 3
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 811
Signed on loan from Hibernian after a similar temporary spell at East Kilbride was cut short. Cleland made his debut in the first game of 2026 when he came off the bench against Edinburgh City. Grabbed his first Stranraer goal away to, of all teams, East Kilbride. Followed that up with a header against Spartans as Stranraer won 2-1. Seven days later, he found the net against Elgin City, who came back to win 2-1. Missed a handful of games towards the end of the season through injury but featured in the last two contests. Will be hoping to become a regular on the scoresheet after making the switch permanent.
Corey O’Donnell

- Appearances: 8 (10)
- Goals: 2
- Assists: 1
- Minutes: 843
Started the season with Stenhousemuir but made the switch to Stranraer in time for the home defeat to Edinburgh City. Found his goalscoring touch when he opened the scoring against Clyde three games later. Netted a penalty in the midweek win over Rangers B and nine minutes later Scot Rough was on hand to turn O’Donnell’s volley home. In and out of the team before making his final appearance when he came off the bench at home to Elgin City in February. Ended the campaign on loan to Cumnock Juniors and has now signed for Annan Athletic.
Sallu Turay

- Appearances: 15 (10)
- Goals: 5
- Assists: –
- Minutes: 1,269
Summer signing impressed in pre-season to earn himself a contract. Made his debut on the first day of the season when Ross County visited the LIME Stadium at Stair Park. Turay kept his place as he visited former club Partick Thistle. Then, scored his first goal when he scored the winner against Alloa Athletic. Immediately got his first league goal with a fine solo effort at East Kilbride. Found the net against Motherwell B and then was in the right place to find the net against Queen of the South. Unfortunately, season was interrupted in October when he was injured away to Edinburgh City. Did not feature again until Stranraer returned to Meadowbank in March. Final goal came in the capital when he scored another solo effort against Spartans. Will be hoping to impress after joining Linlithgow Rose.
Ryan Edgar

- Appearances: 14 (9)
- Goals: 3
- Assists: 2
- Minutes: 1,180
Frontman made 25 appearances over the course of the season as he reached 67 in a Stranraer shirt. Edgar showed impressive hold up play in teeing up Finn Ecrepont for a goal at Edinburgh City and then did the same for James Dolan against Glenafton. It was in the Scottish Cup match that he finally got his first goal of the season when he netted in stoppage time. Did not have long to wait for another goal as his header proved vital in a win over Forfar Athletic. Scored a second Scottish Cup goal when his extra time strike ended Clydebank’s hopes of an upset. Unfortunately, injured then halted his season as he made just three more appearances, including on the last day at Elgin City.
Deryn Lang

- Appearances: 29 (10)
- Goals: 14
- Assists: 5
- Minutes: 2,614
Top scorer had to wait until the 10th game of the season before he finally featured after injury. Lang got his first of the campaign in the victory over Motherwell B in September. Started November with a goal in a 3-1 win over Forfar Athletic. That late strike sparked a fine run of form that saw seven more goals before the end of the year, including doubles against St Mirren B and Stirling Albion. Started 2026 with goals against Edinburgh City and Forfar Athletic. Rounded off January with a goal at Stirling and added two more over his remaining 12 games, including one against Clyde where he was already injured. Will be playing in League Two next season with Dumbarton.
