LAST WEEK we saw something a bit different at our U16 pre-season training sessions.

We welcomed Breyden Brumbaugh from Missouri, USA to join us, as he starts his footballing journey in the UK in early September.

Having been accepted to Brooke House College in Market Harborough, which has close ties with Leicester City, the 15 year old will hope to follow his dream of developing into a professional football player.

Breyden was in Stranraer for the week with Mark Williamson and family, who now live in Banchory, Aberdeenshire.

Breyden said, “I have really enjoyed my time in Stranraer with the Williamsons, and it was great to take part in some training sessions with the team while I was there.

“I’d like to thank the coaches and players who welcomed me and put me through my paces.

“I’ve been training on my own for many weeks during lockdown in the USA, so being in a group again was fantastic.

“I wish the club the best of luck for the upcoming season.”

Blues vice chairman Shaun Niven said, “It was a pleasure to welcome an up and coming young footballer to our club for the week.

“It’s great exposure for the club, and hopefully we have played a small part in preparing him for his future.”
