Grant Gallagher and Scott Robertson’s testimonial match saw a host of Stranraer players past and present put on a fantastic show in gale force winds in the Eco Gen Stadium at Stair Park.
Alongside current SPFL stars like Partick Thistle duo Kyle Turner and David Mitchell, former fan favourites such as Michael Moore, Lee Sharp and Allan Jenkins were a joy to watch as they rolled back the years.
In a first half full of chances, New Luce’s own Danny Mitchell put the Legends team in front on 22 minutes with a well taken finish.
Grant Anderson found the top corner with a trademark finish to double the Legends’ lead, before Andy Stirling pulled one back for Gal and Robbo’s side with the half time interval approaching.
The second half saw further unlikely appearances, including committee member Iain Alldred, former Blues goalkeeping coach Eric Phillips and former Scotland international Declan Gallagher.
Steven Bell produced another fine strike to level the scoring, only for David Graham to curl in a sensational goal to restore the Legends’ advantage.
After David McKenna equalised for Gal and Robbo’s Blues, both sides found the net in the closing stages to ensure a satisfactory result all round.
Sean Winter showed Stranraer fans what they’ve been missing all these years with a tidy bottom corner finish, and Darryl Duffy demonstrated typical composure in front of goal to get the better of Andy Downie.
