Chris Aitken’s side had the Eco Gen Stadium buzzing with a deserved victory over high-flying Alloa Athletic.
Second half goals from James Dolan and Sallu Turay gave Stranraer three points to kick off the KDM Evolution Trophy league phase.
Five changes were made from Saturday’s disappointing defeat to Edinburgh City.
Evan Dunne returned from suspension and went straight into the starting lineup, swapping with Tommy Sharp at right back.
Finn Ecrepont, Aaron Quigg, Daniel McManus and Sallu Turay replaced Beejay Coll, Kirk McKnight, Lewis Hunter and Ronan Hughes.
A far more attacking lineup for the Blues, and this showed throughout the evening.
The opening ten minutes belonged to the hosts, dominating the ball in the opposition half and winning several corners.
Alloa player/manager Andy Graham led by example for the visitors, clearing away any danger.
Mark Russell would intercept a pass in the opposition half, only to send his long-range effort wide of the mark.
Scot Rough would be the next to have a chance, heading wide from a Russell free kick.
James Dolan tested the palms of Ogayi twice – either side of Corey O’Donnell hitting the post with a left footed strike.
An excellent first half for the home side, only missing a goal to cap off an impressive opening 45 minutes.
Thankfully, the Blues faithful would only need to wait five minutes from the restart for a goal.
Russell threaded an exquisite ball through to James Dolan, which sent the Blues winger bearing down on goal.
Ogayi’s poor positioning allowed Dolan an easy finish, sending the ball to nestle in the far corner.
The joy was short lived, and against the run of play, the away side found themselves level within five minutes.
An uncharacteristic mistake in the Stranraer half allowed Alloa to win back possession, before the Blues conceded a free kick twenty yards from goal.
Up stepped Andrew Clarke, who dispatched the dead ball opportunity over the wall and past Josh Lane with a fantastic strike.
The Wasps were level, but the Blues were once again on the front foot immediately from kick-off.
McManus would see his third effort of the second half narrowly spin past the far post, before Ogayi would make a great save to deny O’Donnell from point blank range.
Fresh legs were introduced in search of a winner, with Beejay Coll, Ronan Hughes, Tommy Sharp, Lewis Hunter and Ryan Edgar all sent on in place of Dolan, Russell, O’Donnell, Aaron Quigg and Lewis Reid.
Sallu Turay was a constant problem for the Alloa defence all evening, and he only grew stronger as time went on.
Initially inches wide of the post with an effort just inside the box, before heading past Ogayi from a Hughes cross – only for the linesman to deny the forward his first competitive Stranraer goal.
Turay was not to be denied his moment, however, and Sal would eventually grab a deserved winner seven minutes from time.
McManus was unfortunate to see his effort cannon back off the upright, but Turay was there to smash the ball home and give the Blues a lead with under ten minutes to go.
The Wasps would throw everything forward in search of levelling the game once again, with Beejay Coll making a crucial goal line clearance with two minutes to go, sealing all three points for the hosts.
All in all, an excellent result and performance to kick off the KDM Evolution Trophy, with the Blues defeating an unbeaten League One side to claim all three points.
Stranraer look to carry over their excellent performances from cup competitions to the league this coming Saturday, as they take on East Kilbride at K Park.
