Match Preview: Peterhead

39 Peterhead WMORGYN Neill, Michael Donald and David Barron all return to the Stranraer squad for the trip to Peterhead tomorrow (Saturday).

The Blues ranks are boosted by the return of the trio as they head north for another vital clash.

Stranraer boss Stevie Farrell was delighted to welcome back the key players as they attempt to bounce back from last week's defeat to Livingston.

He said: "We are very happy to have Morgyn back and Michael is back in the squad as well.

"Michael brings something different to the squad that maybe two or three others have not had in recent weeks.

"We have missed him and having both him and Morgyn back is really encouraging."

Defender Barron was only fit enough for the bench last week after a back injury but Farrell was confident he would be fit enough to start if called upon.

The only injury doubt is Craig Pettigrew, who looks like missing out.

Stranraer and Peterhead drew 3-3 in the last game at Stair Park and the manager said: "It was a great game from a neutral point of view but maybe not a manager's point of view.

"We are both teams that like to get the ball down and express ourselves."

Three points for either side could prove crucial in the bid to avoid the drop but Farrell refused to call the tie a must win game.

He stressed the most important game was always the next one.

The Stair Park side tasted defeat for the first time since Farrell returned to the club during last weekend's clash when Liam Buchanan popped up with a winner with just six minutes left.

However, the manager was sure the defeat - the first since January - would not dent the players' confidence too much.

He said: "I don't think we deserved to lose the game although we did not deserve to win the game.

"We competed really, really well and you would not have known who was fighting relegation and who were the league leaders."

GAMES involving two sides towards the lower end of the table can often be nervy and low scoring affairs. Not this one though.

Stranraer and Peterhead served up a six-goal thriller, which was pleasing for any neutrals but ultimately did neither side any favours.

Rory McAllister got the ball rolling with less than quarter of an hour played when he collected David Barron's header. The striker still had plenty to do but curled a superb effort round Cameron Belford.

Stranraer quickly fought back though when Ryan Thomson headed home Scott Agnew's corner.

The game was turned in Stranraer's favour before the break when Willie Gibson produced a trademark free-kick. However, the pendulum swung back in the visitors' favour after the half time interval. McAllister got on the end of Grant Anderson's cross and then Nicky Riley set up Anderson to put Peterhead back in front.

With the points slipping away, Gibson popped up again to smash home a leveller and ensure it was a point apiece.
