Stranraer 1-2 Airdrieonians

STRANRAER remain second bottom of the league having slipped to a tenth league defeat of the season.

The Blues came into the tie looking to pick up a first league win since November 19 and the 3-1 victory over Stenhousemuir.

Brian Reid made two changes, with Steven Bell suspended and Ryan Thomson preferred at right back to Luke Watt, who was on the bench.

Frank McKeown came into the side alongside Scott Robertson at the heart of the defence, but the visitors were in front after just ten minutes.

Adam Brown collected a throw in on the left and drifted across the box before firing into the bottom right corner of the net.
Agnew
However, Reid's men were not behind for long with Scott Agnew on target.

Joe Nuttall's through ball was perfect for the midfielder, who broke through the heart of the Diamonds' defence to slot past Rohan Ferguson with a cool finish.

The visitors probably should have been in front going into the half time interval though, with Andy Ryan twice denied by Cameron Beflord around the half hour mark.

Ferguson denied Agnew just after the break and, at the other end, Belford did well to tip Brown's shot onto the post just after the hour.

But the Diamonds' pressure would pay off with 12 minutes left. Jack Leitch's low cross found Ryan and he fired past Belford at the second attempt to wrap up all three points and close the gap on league leaders Livingston.
