20161119 Stenhousemuir 5xScorers: Stranraer - Bell (37), R Thomson (69) and Nuttall (82); Stenhousemuir - Roy (45+1)

TWO second half strikes saw Stranraer end their winless run and move seven points clear of rock bottom Stenhousemuir.

The Blues had not savoured that winning feeling since a trip to their opponents in October.

However, strikes from Steven Bell, Ryan Thomson and Joe Nuttall were enough to move the club out of the play-off spot and up to eighth.

Brian Reid made three changes from the side that lost at Albion Rovers, with David Barron, Kyle Turner and Mark McGuigan starting in place of Luke Watt, Giuliano Morena and Craig Thomson.

It was a game that had very few chances in the opening half an hour, but the Blues broke the deadlock eight minutes before the break.

Willie Gibson, who had already fizzed a shot across the goal, whipped in a corner, which was flicked on at the near post and Steven Bell was lurking to poke the ball home.

However, the hosts quickly undone their good work, allowing Stenhousemuir to equalise in first half stoppage time.

Barron's misplaced pass saw the visitors counter attack and Alistair Roy broke the offside trap to slot home.

Positively, the Blues did not let that setback hamper them in the second half.

McGuigan came close in the opening 30 seconds before Stranraer got their noses back in front.

Joe Nuttall battled well on the right wing and rolled the ball into Ryan Thomson.

The midfielder still had plenty to do but he shrugged off a couple of challenges before beating Colin McCabe for his first goal since March.

Then, with eight minutes left, Nuttall completed a Man of the Match performance after latching onto substitute Frank McKeown's ball over the top.

The striker kept his cool and slotted the ball beyond McCabe, before Cameron Belford ensured there would be no nervy finish with a great reaction save from Roy's clever flick.
