MARK McGuigan's first league goal of the season and a solid second half defensive showing saw Stranraer pick up their first three points of the season.
Brian Reid made one change ahead of Peterhead's visit, with Scott Robertson unavailable and David Barron slotting in as a trialist at right back.
Peterhead were also in search of their first league win of the season and there was little between the two sides in the opening 20 minutes.
The first real opportunity fell to the hosts when Craig Malcolm rose highest for Willie Gibson's corner but his header was blocked by a combination of defender and post.
Still, that moment sparked the Blues into life and McGuigan opened the scoring just four minutes later.
The striker collected a loose ball in the box and lifted his shot over the onrushing Fraser Hobday to squeeze it in at the far post from the tightest of angles.
Gibson himself came close just moments later but the Peterhead goalkeeper got just enough on it to turn the drive round the post before Malcolm hit the woodwork for the second time as his header clipped the crossbar.
If Stranraer had ended the first half on top, it was Peterhead who were in the driving seat after the half time interval.
Captain Steven Bell cleared Jordan Brown's header from inside the six yard box before Rory McAllister twice came close to pulling the visitors level.
He broke through the home defence and rounded Cameron Belford but he then took too long to pull the trigger and Barron blocked a certain goal.
Then, the striker was denied by the fingertips of Belford as he tipped McAllister's long range drive onto the post.
Peterhead had plenty of possession in the final 20 minutes but failed to make it count and were almost made to pay in injury time when Gibson found substitute Calvin Kemp but Hobday denied the youngster his first senior goal.
