Stranraer U20s continued their fantastic form with another win away from home, defeating Championship side Greenock Morton.

The young Blues side were strengthened by the inclusion of first team defender David Barron, who was included by Stevie Farrell to play 90 minutes after returning from injury.

Goalkeeper Max Currie stepped in for the injured Ryan McLaren, with Tom Lang, Stephen Okoh and recent first team substitute Cami Elliott also starting.

The opening minutes were without any real incident, with both teams vying for midfield supremacy without many clear cut chances.

Stranraer would have the first real opportunity of the game, but a David Gray cross from the left eluded both Holland and Elliott in the 6 yard box when it seemed easier to score.

A change of wings for Elliott brought the Blues joy, with the youngster turning full back Hynes and producing a fine save from McGowan.

The visitors turned their momentum into an opening goal on 28 minutes, when the dangerous Jai Holland won and converted a penalty for his 12th goal of the season.

A moment of indecision shortly after allowed Purdue a sight at goal, forcing Currie into a diving one handed save.

The half drew to a close with Lyons attempting to beat Currie from a 25 yard free kick, which was turned round the post.

The second half saw one change for the Blues, with ex-Morton man John Mitchell replacing an unwell Lang in the centre of defence.

With Gray and Elliott linking up well on the left and Caldwell’s overlapping runs, the game opened up.

Chances were denied at both ends by good goalkeeping from Currie and Morton's number one McGowan, before the hosts had Blair Docherty dismissed late on for a foul on the touchline.

With the 1-0 win in the books, the Blues moved up to 4th in the table with 15 points after the first round of fixtures.
