Blues go down 3-2 at Somerset

Stranraer lost out by 3 goals to 2 against Ayr United at Somerset today in the second South West Derby of the season. However once again the Bues feel hard done by as they dominated for large spells of the game hitting the woodwork twice. Ayr went ahead after just 90 seconds when Gormley netted with a close range header. Ayr got a second when Prunty nipped in after some poor defending and stabbed past the helpless Black. The Blues fought back though and after Craig Frizzell was tripped inside the box, impressive striker Grégory Tadé netted from the spot sending Grindlay the wrong way. The second half kicked off and almost immediately the Blues pressed the self destruct button when Easton was given too much space inside the box and his mishit shot evaded Black going in off the bar. Both sides had chances to score until eventually in the 76th minute substitute Alex White forced the ball home from a tight angle after initially mishitting his first shot. Stranraer continued to search for the equaliser and Grindlay did well to reach White's curling free-kick.

Derek Ferguson's Post Match Reaction: Disappointed for the team again today. We dominated the game again in my opinion from start to finish. We had the better chances but that wee bit of slackness cost us. I can't fault the boys I think we are playing really well at the moment. Individual mistakes are costing us. We created numerous chances, they had two or three and took them. We've hit the post and bar and had penalties turned down. The players were different class and the effort again was there. The football came from us. We'll keep going and we'll try to play football but we've got to tighten up at the back.
